2027 Nissan Z

2027 Nissan Z

For 2027, Nissan’s two-seat sports car gets a heritage-inspired front-end redesign, a new manual transmission option for Z NISMO, and handling refinements built to make every grade more consistent under hard driving. None of that changes the fundamentals: a twin-turbocharged V6, rear-wheel drive, and a choice between a six-speed manual and a nine-speed automatic across the lineup. What’s changed is how the car looks and how the NISMO grade puts its power down, with GT-R-derived front brake rotors and retuned suspension joining the new gearbox. The 2027 Z has arrived at Hunt Club Nissan, where Ottawa-area drivers can walk the lot and compare Sport, Performance, and NISMO in person before deciding which one fits their driving style.

What’s new on the 2027 Nissan Z?

Exterior

Z’s front end has been reworked around a new split grille, with a body-colour bar running through the opening in a direct nod to the original 240Z, also called the S30. In place of the Nissan badge, a Z emblem now sits on the nose across every grade, matching a detail last seen on the S30, S130, Z31, and Z32. Getting that new grille shape right meant Nissan engineers had to reposition the front parking sensors without sacrificing airflow to the engine bay.

Z Performance picks up redesigned 19-inch forged wheels for 2027, styled with black spokes and a machined rim and wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires. Sport and Performance grades also gain access to a new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint, always finished with a Super Black roof, built from fine yellow and blue pigments chosen for fade resistance and inspired by the Grand Prix Green offered on the original S30. The added metallic flake brings out the car’s character lines under direct sunlight, a look that suits the open stretches south of the city along Bank Street just as well as it does downtown.

Interior

The cabin stays a focused 2-passenger layout across the 2027 lineup, built around an 8-inch touchscreen and a fully digital TFT gauge cluster. A 3-bay instrument panel display, reading turbocharger boost, turbine speed, and voltmeter, is standard on every grade alongside the primary digital cluster. Sport uses black woven cloth seating with an 8-way manual driver’s seat, while Performance upgrades to synthetic suede inserts or full leather-appointed seats, a heated driver’s seat, and a seat cushion and bolster shape unique to that grade.

Performance grade introduces a tan interior option this year, echoing the S30’s original colour scheme and set against black upper dash and door trim. NISMO caps the lineup with leather-and-Alcantara Recaro seats designed specifically for that model, plus NISMO badging inside the cabin. Sport and Performance also get a new startup animation on the digital meter display that runs through seven generations of Z, while NISMO keeps its own distinct sequence and meter graphics.

Powertrain

Every 2027 Z shares the same VR30DDTT 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, with a DOHC design, direct injection, and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control. Sport and Performance grades produce 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, while the NISMO-tuned engine reaches 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. All 2027 models also gain a revised fuel tank that keeps fuel near the pump during sustained high-G cornering, supporting steady engine performance through demanding driving.

Drive layout across the range is mid-mounted front-engine, rear-wheel drive. A 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission with an EXEDY high-performance clutch comes standard on Sport, Performance, and NISMO, while a 9-speed automatic is available on Sport and Performance. The headline mechanical update for 2027 is the new six-speed manual now available on Z NISMO, engineered with a shorter shift lever ratio, an upgraded clutch, and manual-specific throttle and ignition tuning for sharper response. Performance and NISMO both include a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Performance and NISMO also include NissanConnect with WiFi hotspot access and NissanConnect Services telematics.

Versions

The 2027 Z lineup has three grades. Z Sport is the base grade, riding on 18-inch Gray Metallic alloy wheels with Yokohama ADVAN Sport tires and fixed 2-piston front, single-piston rear brake calipers. Z Performance adds 19-inch RAYS forged wheels, Bridgestone Potenza tires, larger floating 4-piston front and 2-piston rear calipers finished in red, a front chin spoiler, rear spoiler, heated mirrors, and the option of the new tan interior. Z NISMO tops the lineup with NISMO-tuned suspension and steering, two-piece GT-R-derived front brake rotors that shave 19 pounds, a three-piece rear spoiler, black “katana” blade trim, and NISMO-exclusive fascias, grille, and side sills, now offered with either the new six-speed manual or the NISMO-tuned 9-speed automatic.
