What’s New with the 2025 Nissan Murano?

What’s New with the 2025 Nissan Murano?

The 2025 Nissan Murano arrives as a fully redesigned fourth-generation model, bringing premium styling, advanced technology, and an enhanced driving experience. Known for its smooth ride, elegant design, and comfortable interior, the Murano has long been a favourite in the midsize crossover segment. This latest version builds on that reputation with a more spacious cabin, upgraded safety features, a powerful new engine, and cutting-edge technology.

From its sleek exterior updates to its reimagined interior, the 2025 Murano is designed to provide a luxurious and connected driving experience. Whether you’re looking for a comfortable family SUV, a stylish commuter vehicle, or a road-trip-ready crossover, the Murano has something to offer.

A More Refined and Elegant Exterior

The 2025 Nissan Murano introduces a bolder, more sophisticated design. A wider stance (now more than 2.6 inches wider than the previous model) gives it a more athletic and commanding presence. The flared rear fenders and sculpted bodywork add to its premium appeal, while details like the hidden exhaust tips and relocated license plate holder create a cleaner, more refined look.

At the front, ultra-thin “Crystal Cube” LED headlights flank a gloss-black trim strip, which separates the grille from the rest of the design. Instead of a traditional chrome-accented grille, the V-motion signature is integrated into the LED daytime running lights, giving the Murano a modern and distinctive front-end look.

The rear design is just as striking, featuring a full-width LED taillight element that creates a seamless lighting signature at night. The rear wiper is now tucked above the rear window, keeping the design clean and uncluttered.

To enhance its luxurious appearance, the Murano is available with two-tone paintwork and 21-inch alloy wheels (exclusive to the Platinum trim), giving it an upscale presence on the road.

A More Comfortable and High-Tech Interior

Inside, the 2025 Murano has been completely redesigned to deliver a modern, minimalist, and premium cabin. The interior features a horizontal design theme, with high-quality materials and soft-touch surfaces throughout.

The dashboard is dominated by dual 12.3-inch displays, seamlessly integrated into the design. The left display functions as a fully digital instrument cluster, while the right touchscreen handles infotainment and vehicle controls. Like the all-electric Nissan Ariya, the Murano replaces traditional buttons with a capacitive-touch climate control panel, giving the dashboard a clean and high-tech feel.

One of the standout features is the Murano Glass dashboard finisher, a colour-shifting accent inspired by the famous Venetian glassworks that gave the Murano its name. This unique design element adds a touch of craftsmanship and luxury.

Nissan has also focused on interior comfort, ensuring that both front and rear passengers enjoy a relaxing ride. Standard heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated washer nozzles enhance comfort in colder months, while available ventilated and massaging front seats (a first for the Murano) provide an even more luxurious experience.

Rear-seat passengers will benefit from wider-opening rear doors for easier entry, heated rear seats, and available rear sunshades. Nissan has also added Zero Gravity rear seats to improve support and reduce fatigue on long trips. Thanks to thinner front seats and increased couple distance, rear passengers now have more knee room than before.

A panoramic moonroof is available to make the cabin feel even more open and airy, while 64-colour ambient lighting allows for personalized illumination throughout the interior.

For cargo, the Murano remains practical and spacious. The 60/40 split flat-folding second row creates a versatile space, with 931.6 litres of cargo capacity behind the rear seats and 1,798 litres with them folded down. A motion-activated power liftgate comes standard on the Platinum trim for added convenience.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Connectivity and Safety

The 2025 Nissan Murano is loaded with next-generation technology, making it one of the most connected and user-friendly crossovers in its class.

For the first time, the Murano offers Google built-in on SL and Platinum trims, providing seamless access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Play Store directly from the infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across all trims, ensuring effortless smartphone connectivity.

The Bose 10-speaker audio system (available on SL and Platinum) delivers crisp, immersive sound, while Active Sound Cancellation is standard to reduce cabin noise for a quieter ride.

The Murano is also packed with advanced safety features. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on all trims, including:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • High Beam Assist
  • Rear Automatic Braking

New for 2025, the Murano offers 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, which provides a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle with the ability to select from eight virtual camera angles. The Invisible Hood View feature is another first for the Murano, allowing drivers to see a virtual image “through” the engine bay to help navigate tight spaces like car wash tracks and parking curbs.

For highway driving, ProPILOT Assist is available on the SV trim, offering a combination of Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist. On the SL and Platinum trims, ProPILOT Assist 1.1 enhances the system with navigation-linked speed adjustments, automatically slowing the vehicle ahead of curves and turns.

A More Powerful and Efficient Powertrain

The 2025 Murano introduces a new 2.0-litre VC-Turbo engine, delivering 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque—a 20 lb-ft increase over the previous model. This variable-compression turbo engine adjusts compression ratios on the fly, optimizing both power and fuel efficiency.

Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the Murano offers smoother acceleration and improved responsiveness compared to the outgoing model. Paddle shifters come standard, allowing drivers to manually control gear shifts for a more engaging experience. The idle stop-start system further enhances efficiency by reducing fuel consumption when the vehicle is at a stop.

Every 2025 Murano comes with standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which automatically distributes power between the front and rear wheels for better traction and stability. The suspension has been upgraded with frequency-sensitive dampers, improving both ride comfort and handling. Electric power steering replaces the previous hydraulic system, providing a more precise and effortless steering feel.

For those needing to tow, the Murano is rated for up to 1,500 pounds, making it ideal for small trailers, boats, or recreational gear.

Why the 2025 Murano Stands Out

The 2025 Nissan Murano is more than just a redesigned crossover—it’s a refined, high-tech, and luxurious SUV that delivers on comfort, performance, and advanced technology. With its bold new design, upgraded engine, premium interior, and cutting-edge safety features, the Murano is a compelling choice for those looking for a stylish and practical midsize SUV.

For drivers who value comfort, connectivity, and confidence on the road, the all-new Murano is a strong contender in its segment. With its road-going sanctuary feel, Nissan has created a vehicle that makes every journey more enjoyable, whether it's a daily commute or a long road trip.
